One Vegas tips sheet isn't
going to answer all your questions or provide you with all the
information you need to make your next trip to Las Vegas a success.
And in fact, if you've been to Vegas many times before, this tip
sheet might be completely useless to you. But if you're new to the
Vegas scene, then you might like some beginner tips and advice on
how to get the most out of your first Las Vegas trip:
- You must be 21 to drink or gamble in Las Vegas. If you're
under 21, another destination might be more appropriate.
- Play in lots of different casinos. They're all different,
and experiencing the different Vegas casinos is part of the fun
of going.
- Alcohol is sold 24 hours a day 7 days a week in Vegas. So
if you're from a small town somewhere and your access to booze
is limited, you need to pace yourself in Vegas. Don't go crazy
drinking just because it's available.

- Tip your cocktail waitresses when they bring you a drink.
The drinks are free, but the waitresses work for tips.
- Join the slots club.
- The Venetian, the Bellagio, and the Wynn are probably the
nicest hotels and resorts in Vegas. Stay at one of them if you
can afford it.
- The best time to go to Vegas if you're on a budget is the
two weeks prior to Christmas. Hotel rates and airfare drop
dramatically, and the crowds in the city are still small.

- Prostitution is illegal in Vegas, but you can get a cab
driver to take you to one of the outlying brothels if that's
your thing.
- Stay away from street hookers.
- There are "escort services" in the phone book. I don't
know what they offer, and I don't endorse your use of them, but
I won't know who you call or what they do while you're in Vegas
either.
- The Olympic Gardens is probably the nicest strip club,
and it's close to the strip.
- Tip the maitre-d at a show 10% of the cost of the tickets
for the entire party, and round it to the nearest $5.
