What Does "Top Ten Casinos" Mean Anyway?"Top ten casinos" is a popular search term for SEO's to target because it's so profitable. It's right up there with "best online casinos". But what does it mean really? Most casino portals who have a "top casinos" list put them in some kind of order based on a rating that they've given the casinos. This might be based on how much money they make in commissions from the casino. I've decided to add a list of top online casinos to this site, but rather than list them in order of who pays me the most commission, I've put them in order of popularity. My methodology is explained after the listing.
I visited Alexa to get the traffic ranks for the "online casinos" category there. They use the DMOZ directory for their online casino listings, and the category is called "Browser Based Casinos". I went through this list and put them in order of Alexa ranking. Two caveats: Alexa ranking is not necessarily a completely accurate count, but it is representative of the traffic from people using the Alexa toolbar. So it could be skewed by that user-set. But it's still a better guideline for me to go on than guesswork. The other caveat is this: DMOZ doesn't have a complete listing of all the online casinos on the internet. It's a volunteer-edited directory, and if the online casino isn't in their directory, it won't be in the corresponding Alexa category either. So we might have missed a popular online casino or two. The Alexa ranking is basically a ranking given to each website based on how much traffic it receives compared to all the other websites on the internet. The site with the most traffic is #1, and the 2nd most traffic is #2, and so on. It's based on the traffic patterns of people who actually have the Alexa toolbar installed. Just for fun, I've listed some more of the top casinos in the chart below. I make no claims about the safety or trustworthiness of the casinos on this list, because that wasn't the purpose of the list. In fact, the purpose of the list was to list casinos in order of traffic popularity. I've seen stuff on some of the player message boards about Windows Casino and Crystal Palace Casino that would make me leery of trying either of those casinos, but that's not from personal experience either. Just based on seeing a lot of opinions. Make your own decisions and draw your own conclusions.
